Try out new things and learn while doing that. It's to work together, collaborate and build things that are innovative. It is to be a better programmer.

With that spirit, Western Union is conducting a hackathon - Techathon'20 and invites all developers and hackathon enthusiasts to participate in an interesting and engaging hackathon.

Eligibility:

  • Students of 2021 batch from the educational institutes listed below, who have 60% and above in the graduation / post-graduation course (whichever is being pursued currently) without any backlog subjects in the previous semesters.
  • Students who are currently pursuing their final year of B. TECH / B.E. / MCA / M.Sc. / M.Tech Computer Science and Information Technology from the following educational institutes in Pune:
    • Sinhgad College of Engineering
    • Maharashtra Institute Of Technology (MIT)
    • PES Modern College of Engineering
    • Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT)
    • Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT)

Themes

Forex Aggregator

Implement a foreign exchange aggregator that interfaces with multiple forex providers to provide the user with the current rates that are available in the market. The user should be able to enter the currencies to be exchanged, search for options available, sorting based on multiple parameters (like best rates, time duration etc) etc. For a similar solution in other industry verticals and feature set, please refer to any aggregator website which searches and displays best deals to the users (Example - Trivago for hotel bookings)

Forex (FX) definition: Forex is a portmanteau of Foreign currency and exchange. Foreign exchange is the process of changing one currency into another currency for a variety of reasons, usually for commerce, trading, or tourism.

Minimum Features Expected

  • A simple to use responsive Web UI with working prototype
  • Display best and worst Forex rates for given day and week of month
  • Multi-currency conversion support (for example USD-INR, Euro-INR, USD-Yen, USD-Euro etc)

Nice to have Feature

  • Analyze past data to predict the best date and time for forex conversion. Using simple prediction models, calculate the best possible date and time for the user to convert forex that helps derive the most financial benefit viz. the highest amount of converted

  • Free to use any third-party libraries, APIs, engines
  • Focus on end to end solution along with non-functional requirements rather than a fancy UI
